Friends of The Heath had a wonderful day at the Knutsford Lions Fair — here’s a look at how it went.
On the gloriously sunny Bank Holiday Monday, 25th May, we joined the annual Knutsford Lions Fair for a day filled with fun and community spirit. We were delighted to be invited by the Lions to run a stall alongside other fantastic local groups. With the sun shining all day, the event truly felt like the perfect summer celebration—happy smiles were everywhere.
The fair was a wonderful opportunity to share our passion for The Heath, reconnect with old friends, and welcome new faces to our community. We were particularly pleased to meet the Town Mayor, Cllr Peter Coan, who stopped by during his walkabout.
Our fantasy treasure hunt was a big hit with visitors of all ages. Many were intrigued by the dramatic story of Edward Higgins, a notorious highwayman who once lived on the edge of The Heath. Participants selected from 49 locations on the Heath map, each hiding a potential spot for the treasure.
The winning location was drawn at random, and the lucky winner took away a treasure chest filled with silver coins (chocolate, of course)—a worthy prize for any self-respecting highwayman!
A huge thank you to the Knutsford Lions for organising the event, everyone who visited our stall, and all the volunteers who made the day so enjoyable. We loved being part of it and hope to see you again next year.
